Jacqueline Snell: Empowering Families through Jazzy Jam for Empowerment
Apr 22

Jacqueline Snell is dedicated to supporting families in need through her nonprofit organization, Jazzy Jam for Empowerment (JJE). As an advocate for critical social issues, mental health, and wellness, JJE also assists families who cannot afford prom attire. Snell’s unwavering commitment has transformed countless lives, providing essential support during challenging times.
This year has presented significant hurdles for Snell. The California wildfires that ravaged Altadena and the Palisades forced many residents, including herself, into temporary shelter. Instead of succumbing to these circumstances, Snell expanded the prom giveaway initiative to support families affected by both wildfires. What began as a single weekend event evolved into a month-long giveaway, culminating on April 13, 2025. With steadfast determination, she enlisted volunteers who responded with overwhelming support.
A highlight of the Jazzy Jam Glam Prom Dress and Suit Giveaway was the participation of Hollywood stylists and costume designers, who provided personalized styling for attendees. Each student received dedicated assistance from a shopper, helping them select the perfect outfit, complete with accessories and shoes to enhance their look.
The community's response was heartwarming, with numerous sponsors, major brands, and organizations stepping in to help. Notably, The Paseo donated space for the event, showcasing the power of collective generosity.
Beyond alleviating financial burdens, the event’s impact extended far and wide. "This initiative is about more than just providing attire; it's about empowering our youth and instilling a sense of confidence and community," Snell explains. Additionally, she incorporated "The WaterCooler Room," a special program designed by Snell, integrated into select school districts, to offer students a safe space to unwind and connect, which further enhanced the sense of community.

After the prom giveaway concluded, Snell took prom attire to the Pasadena High School basketball team to provide suits for survivors of the Eaton fire. Many of these students missed the giveaway due to their displacement far from Pasadena, and Snell was determined to ensure they had the opportunity to participate.
