The She Is Global Awards is such a powerful initiative. What inspired you to create a platform specifically designed to celebrate women on a global scale?

The inspiration behind the She Is Global Awards came from a deep desire to create a space where women from all walks of life are seen, celebrated, and empowered. Around the world, women are doing extraordinary things—often behind the scenes—and I wanted to build a global platform that highlights those stories, amplifies their voices, and connects them to opportunities that extend beyond borders. It’s about honoring not only what women have achieved but also the resilience, faith, and purpose that drive them.

Dr. Mel, you wear so many hats—mental health specialist, relationship expert, founder, and now award show visionary. How do you balance all of these roles while staying grounded in your purpose?

Balance for me comes from alignment. Everything I do—whether it’s in mental health, relationships, or through the She Is Global Awards—connects back to one purpose: helping people heal, grow, and walk in their full potential. When your work is rooted in purpose, it doesn’t feel like juggling roles; it feels like living out your calling in different forms. I also make it a priority to protect my peace, stay prayed up, and surround myself with a strong support system that keeps me grounded.

The first She Is Global Awards takes place this December in Atlanta. What can attendees expect from this inaugural celebration?

Attendees can expect an unforgettable evening filled with inspiration, empowerment, and global connection. The She Is Global Awards will be a celebration of purpose—honoring women who are leading, innovating, and transforming lives around the world. From powerful stories and dynamic and meaningful moments of sisterhood, this inaugural event will set the tone for a movement that celebrates women not just for what they do, but for who they are.

Mental health and self-worth often influence how we show up in relationships and business. What are some of the most common challenges you see women facing today in those areas?

One of the biggest challenges I see women facing today is learning to separate their worth from their work. So many high-achieving women pour themselves into their roles, relationships, or careers, but often neglect their own emotional well-being. There’s this silent pressure to be everything for everyone, and that can lead to burnout, self-doubt, and difficulty setting healthy boundaries.

I encourage women to give themselves permission to rest, to heal, and to know that their value doesn’t decrease when they pause. When we operate from a place of wholeness—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—we show up stronger in business, relationships, and life overall.

Let’s talk about your wine brand, A Glass of Love. It’s such a beautiful concept. Where did the idea come from, and what message do you want it to represent?

Well, thank you. A Glass of Love is a brand that my husband and I share together. The concept was born out of my passion as a relationship coach and our desire to create a signature wine that inspires meaningful moments—whether it’s with your significant other, during a girls’ night out, or at a special occasion. Our tagline represents love and inspiration, all captured in one sip.

Your career beautifully blends love, healing, empowerment, and celebration. Was there a defining moment when you realized that this was your calling?

Yes, after going through a devastating divorce, I was also graduating with my B.S. in Counseling. During that time, I took a deep reflection on myself, which pushed me to level up and become a better version of who I am. I realized that once I reached a place of healing, I could effectively help others do the same and learn to love the skin they’re in. This journey shaped me into the woman I am today—one that I’m truly proud of.

As the founder of the She Is Global Awards, what does “global sisterhood” mean to you personally?

To me, global sisterhood means unity without boundaries — women from every walk of life uplifting, empowering, and celebrating one another beyond culture, title, or geography. It’s about creating a safe and authentic space where women can be seen, heard, and valued for who they truly are.

Through the She Is Global Awards, I’ve witnessed the power of women coming together — not in competition, but in collaboration — and that, to me, is the essence of global sisterhood: standing stronger together while inspiring the world through our collective strength, purpose, and love.

You’ve created spaces for women to not only be recognized but also to heal and connect. What impact do you hope this event will have on future generations of women?

My hope is that this event becomes a legacy — one that teaches future generations of women the power of self-worth, collaboration, and purpose. I want them to see that recognition is not just about awards, but about honoring the journey, the resilience, and the healing that takes place along the way.

If even one young woman walks away believing she, too, can rise, lead, and love herself unapologetically, then we’ve done something truly impactful. She Is Global is more than an event — it’s a movement that I hope continues to inspire women to dream bigger and lift others as they climb.

Between your work in mental health, your media presence, and your wine brand, what’s next for Dr. Mel in 2026 and beyond?

I’m truly humbled and honored by what 2026 will bring. We will be non-stop with new projects, and She Is will begin to travel, with our first stop in New Orleans, LA this upcoming July, so excited — so please be on the lookout! I’m deeply grateful for all that’s on the horizon for me and the brands.
